Former Tohoshinki members JJY’s sobs behind the stage and the stir caused by “W”

The Osaka performance that opened with sobs. However during the performance in Tokyo Dome on June 12 and 13, Junsu (23), Jejung (24), and Yuchun (24) all managed to hold back their tears.

Jejung and Yuchun each talked about the dramas they are currently starring in and Yuchun’s dismissive “boring” comment on Junsu’s gags also invited laughters from the audience. On the other hand, they kept the audience entertained with the exquisite harmonies for their 4 new songs and slick dance moves.

Even then, to the fans, the stage of Tokyo Dome is one that reminded them of a “5 member Tohoshinki”. It was the very same place where 1 year ago they stood on their dream stage with the members Yunho (24) and Changmin (22), whom they are now separated from. It was where the 5 of them promised the fans, “let’s meet together again”.

“Firstly, the stage was of a much smaller scale. The stage last year was huge… And when they first greeted the audience, they said “Good evening” and they couldn’t continue with the usual “We’re Tohoshinki”, it felt like they were searching for words to say in place of that and there was a moment of silence. The audience could also feel that and even though it was just for a moment, the atmosphere in the venue felt strange.

Also, for Junsu’s gags it was usually Changmin not Yuchun who would make sarcastic remarks and Jejung was acting as the big brother this time around since he is the eldest but that was also Yunho’s role…” (from a fan)

Surely the 3 of them would be the ones who felt this more strongly than anyone else. During the first night of the Tokyo Dome performance, there was a scene when Jejung called out to the audience, “I’m sure everyone has many things to say to us, right?” With that, the shouts of “Yes~”, “Please sing as 5 members again!” could be heard around the venue. And this was Jejung’s answer to these voices.

“We know that too. But don’t everyone also have times when you can’t cry even when you feel like crying?”
Even to the very end, all 3 of them didn’t shed any tears.
And on the final performance, Jejung revealed this.

“On the first day in Osaka, it was just us three, we thought of telling everyone what we couldn’t say all these while, the sadness, the pain and the tears we have held back. We thought of being honest about our feelings just once and so we showed it (our tears)”.

But after showing it, we saw everyone crying very sadly from the stage and we knew we shouldn’t cry in front of everyone. We realized it was better for us to keep smiling and smile with everyone, showing everyone the smiling and happy side of us.”

However, when they got off stage after the encore, it was as if a string snapped and Jejung started to sob with his shoulders trembling. He kept wiping away his tears with both hands. Junsu was walking facing straight ahead but tears were falling off his cheeks. Yuchun’s eyes were also all red.

Now that the 4 performances have all ended, the new song “W” performed by the 3 of them is creating a stir among fans. “Before singing, Jejung said it very clearly. ‘It’s a song that we’ve put our heart into’. The letter “W” resembles the Cassiopeia sign that is made up of 5 stars, and I think it stands for them. It’s a message to Yunho and Changmin.” (another fan)

The 3 of them stood facing each other while singing “W”. They sang it with voices from deep within them filled with emotions, hoping that someday they might be able to shine again as 5 like the Cassiopeia sign. No, rather than to call it singing, it sounded more like a painful cry. Like a heartfelt wish, hoping that it would reach the ears of the other two.

3 hours and 12 minutes that was colored bright red!

Tokyo Dome was colored with their trademark red penlights. 2 months since the annoucement of the stop to Tohoshinki’s activities — before the fans is the new unit composed of 3 members. Starting with their well coordinated MC, the frequent hand holding, you could feel the strong bond between them. At the end, they performed their new song “W” which conveyed their emotions. “Until the day we meet again, I’ll keep a space for you / Because I believe that we’ll be able to laugh together again” The hope in the lyrics made 54,000 in the audience weep. The documentary DVD “3hree Voices” that will reveal their struggles and real self will be released on July 28th.
